Eligibility for the SNAPP grant is determined by specific requirements related to the applicant's profile and proposed activities.
  • The applicant must be a legal person with the authority to enter into a legal agreement, which can include corporations, not-for-profit organizations, primary producers, processors, distributors, First Nations, Metis, and Inuit.
  • Applicants must have at least one component of their business located in northern Ontario, and the project activity must occur in northern Ontario.
  • Both start-up and existing businesses are eligible; however, start-up businesses in the first three years of operation must provide a business plan, including cash flow projections.
  • Collaborations are accepted with three or more partners, and collaborative partners must be at arm's-length to avoid potential conflicts of interest. For collaborations, at least two collaborators must be businesses, organizations, or persons located in northern Ontario.
  • Eligible applicants may submit one application per intake period, and successful applicants can receive a maximum of $10,000 in SNAPP funding throughout the current program period (2023–2026).
  • Previous successful applicants from any previous SNAPP programs are eligible to apply to the current program.
