Overview

If you are an entrepreneur or small business in agri-tech and/or cleantech, you could receive up to $10,000 for solutions that support and enhance social and environmental sustainability in York Region and beyond.

Eligibility criteria

The eligibility criteria for this grant are as follows:

  • Applicant must be a not-for-profit York Region-based organization or the proposed activities take place in, or benefit York Region
  • Must contribute to innovation in York Region and have a proven track record of delivering programs and services that support innovation and sustainability
  • Demonstrate innovative solutions or services that expand inclusion, diversity, or accessibility in York Region
  • Must be able to match the $10,000 fund
  • A project cannot be funded for more than twice, and previously funded recipients will not be eligible for two consecutive rounds of funding

Who is eligible

There are eligible types of companies for the grant. Small businesses or entrepreneurs developing Agri-tech and Cleantech solutions in Canada are eligible to apply for the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Fund. Eligible ventures should be based in York Region, engaged with a York Region innovation partner, have 1-99 employees, and be developing innovative solutions in areas such as precision agriculture, robotics, vertical farming, automation in the food value chain, food ecosystem sustainability, decarbonization, or electric vehicles.

  • Company incorporated and based in Canada
  • Operational in York Region or willing to engage with a York Region innovation partner
  • Venture size of 1-99 employees with at least one business and one technical co-founder
  • Must develop Agri-tech, Agri-food, or Cleantech solutions
  • Projects should focus on areas like precision agriculture, robotics, vertical farming, etc.
