How much funding can be received?

The Sustainable Development Support Program for Mining Sector Companies — Stream C offers a maximum funding of $20,000 or 75% of eligible project costs. It aims to assist horticultural peat exploitation companies in Quebec in obtaining and maintaining Veriflora® certification through eligible activities like external certification audits.

Financing terms and conditions

The maximum grant amount per beneficiary under Stream C is the lesser of $20,000 or 75% of the eligible project expenses.
Beneficiaries must finance the remaining portion of the project costs themselves.
Funding is provided as a one-time payment following the signing of a letter of announcement from the minister.
The grant can be combined with financial assistance from other governmental bodies, municipalities, and associated entities, provided that the total funding does not exceed 90% of eligible project expenses.

The applicant must be a horticultural peat extraction company registered in Quebec.
The applicant must have at least one establishment located in Quebec.
The project must involve conducting the Veriflora® certification audit.
The project must be carried out between April 1, 2023, and January 31, 2026.

Eligible expenses

Professional fees for the external auditor conducting the Veriflora® certification audit.
Travel expenses for the external auditor, subject to the current public service rates of Quebec.

Eligibility criteria of the Sustainable Development Support Program for Mining Sector Companies — Stream C program

Applications are selected on a continuous basis by the Ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts (MRNF) following a "first come, first served" principle until the program budget is exhausted.
The MRNF evaluates the eligibility of applications by ensuring compliance with specified relevant elements and inclusion of all required documents as per the normative framework.

Verify company eligibility

Ensure your company is registered in Quebec
Verify that the company operates in the horticultural peat industry with a presence in Quebec

Conduct certification audit

Conduct the Veriflora® certification audit between April 1, 2023, and January 31, 2026
Confirm audit aligns with program requirements

Collect required documents

Gather necessary documents: application form, external audit invoice, proof of payment, Veriflora® certification proof

Submit application

Submit application with all required documents to the MRNF
Ensure submission is within the program's timeline

Await review results

Wait for MRNF to review the application and provide written decision

Additional information

The grant is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until the program budget is exhausted.
The grant amount is the lesser of $20,000 or 75% of eligible project expenses, and the recipient must cover the remaining costs.
The beneficiary agrees to acknowledge the financial support from the Quebec government in all related publications and communications, and share a copy with the MRNF.
The recipient must inform the MRNF of any additional financial assistance received for the project.
The program is set to end on March 31, 2026, or when the allocated budget is fully committed, whichever occurs first.
The MRNF reserves the right to demand repayment of the grant if the beneficiary fails to comply with program obligations or provides misleading information.
All project-related documents must be retained for five years after project completion or until all claims are settled.
