The Sustainable Development Support Program for Mining Sector Companies — Stream B aims to promote leadership in sustainable practices within Quebec's mining sector by supporting projects that achieve top ratings (A, AA, AAA) under the VDMD protocols. The maximum funding amount is the lesser of $25,000 or 50% of eligible expenses, with activities including external audits and consultancy mandates to achieve these ratings.

Eligibility
- The applicant must be a mining company registered in Quebec.
- The applicant must have at least one establishment located in Quebec.
- Eligible projects include external verifications necessary to obtain at least an A, AA, or AAA rating for one of the indicators in the VDMD protocols.
- Eligible projects may also include tasks conducted by consultant firms to achieve at least an A, AA, or AAA rating for one of the indicators in the VDMD protocols.
- The project must be executed between January 1, 2022, and January 31, 2026.
- Eligible expenses are necessary, justifiable, directly attributable to the project, and must be approved by the MRNF.
Who is eligible?
- Mining companies operating in Quebec
Eligible expenses
- Professional fees of the external auditor or consultant.
- Travel expenses of the external auditor or consultant, which must not exceed the rates currently in force within the Quebec public service.
Eligible geographic areas
- Companies registered in Quebec with at least one establishment in Quebec.
Selection criteria
- Applications will be evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis until the program budget is exhausted.
- The eligibility of the applications is assessed based on compliance with all the pertinent elements and inclusion of all required documents.

- Submit the complete application with all required documents to MRNF
- Ensure the submission is made before budget exhaustion or deadline

- Wait for the written decision from MRNF
- Follow up if no response is received within a reasonable timeframe
Additional information
- The Programme will be active from January 1, 2022, until March 31, 2026, or until the allocated budget is fully spent, whichever comes first.
- Subsidies will be disbursed in one installment following the signing of the notification letter by the minister.
- The Programme requires participants to acknowledge the Quebec government's financial support in all publications and advertising related to the project.
- The MRNF reserves the right to require a full or partial reimbursement of the subsidy if conditions are not met or if misleading information is provided.
- Beneficiaries must keep all project-related documents for five years post-project completion and provide access to these for auditing purposes.
- Beneficiaries are expected to declare any additional financial aid received for the project promptly.
