Overview of the PME MTL – Young Business program

Get up to $15,000 to help with your start-up and growth.

Financing terms and conditions

  • Non-repayable financial contribution of up to $15,000 per project.

Eligible projects & activities

  • Start-up and launch of new businesses headquartered in Montréal.
  • Business growth and development initiatives for companies established less than five years ago.

Eligibility criteria of the PME MTL – Young Business program

  • The business must be legally constituted and listed in the Registre d’entreprises du Québec (REQ).
  • The head office and business activities must be located in Montréal.
  • The business must have been established for less than five years.
  • A business plan demonstrating profitability and viability must be submitted.
  • The applicant must commit to working full-time in the business (at least 35 hours per week).

  • Legally constituted start-up businesses registered in the Registre d’entreprises du Québec (REQ)

Who is not eligible

  • Businesses not in Montreal
  • Unregistered businesses
  • Operations over 5 years old
  • Part-time engagement in business

Eligible expenses

  • Purchase of equipment
  • Leasehold improvements
  • Marketing expenses
  • Working capital

Eligible geographic areas

  • Businesses with their head office located on Montréal Island.

  • Assessment by the joint investment committee (CIC) on the entrepreneur’s qualifications.
  • Viability of the business proposal in relation to the fund’s objectives and requirements.

How to apply to the PME MTL – Young Business program

Eligibility Check
  • Make sure that your business is registered with the Quebec Business Registry (REQ).
  • Confirm that your head office and place of business are in Montreal.
  • Check that your business is less than 5 years old.
  • Be prepared to work full-time in the company (minimum 35 hours per week).

Preparation of the documentation
  • Develop a business plan demonstrating the profitability and viability of your business.
  • Gather documents proving your eligible expenses such as equipment purchases and lease improvements.

Identification of the service hub
  • Enter your business's postal code or select your service area on the provided map.
  • Identify the experts in your region to receive support.

Partnership with the PME MTL loan
Make sure that your grant is matched with a loan offered by the PME MTL Fund.

Submission of the request
  • Prepare your application file including all the required information.
  • Submit your application to the joint investment committee (CIC) of the involved sector.
