Overview of the PISAQ – Stream 2 program
The PISAQ – Stream 2 grant offers up to $30,000 per project, covering up to 80% of eligible expenses, to strengthen the expertise of veterinary health professionals in Quebec. Funding supports activities such as developing and updating training programs, creating informational tools, disseminating scientific advancements, and supporting the next generation of veterinary professionals.
Financing terms and conditions
- Financial assistance covers up to 80% of eligible project expenses.
- Maximum funding available per project is $30,000.
- Applicant and partner contributions may include both in-kind and cash resources.
Eligible projects & activities
- Development and updating of continuing education programs for veterinary professionals.
- Creation, development, and updating of tools for guidance, information, and analysis in animal health.
- Dissemination of information on advanced technologies and scientific developments relevant to veterinary practice.
- Support activities aimed at succession planning for veterinary professionals, such as mentoring, co-development, and establishing communities of practice.

Eligibility criteria of the PISAQ – Stream 2 program
- The applicant must have an active establishment located in Quebec.
- Eligible applicants include research centres, educational institutions, non-profit organizations dedicated to knowledge transfer in the agricultural and agri-food sector, animal health and welfare expertise centres in the agri-food domain, associations of veterinary professionals, veterinary establishments, and individual veterinarians.
- The project must begin within three months of the funding application and be completed no later than February 15, 2028.
- The project must aim to increase the expertise of veterinary health professionals in relation to eligible animal species and themes such as biosafety, responsible antibiotic use, animal welfare, veterinary telemedicine, or priority animal health issues.

Eligible expenses
- Costs related to the development and updating of continuing education for veterinary health professionals.
- Expenses for creating, updating, and distributing guidance, informational, and analytical tools.
- Expenditures for disseminating information on advanced technologies and scientific developments.
- Costs associated with support activities aimed at sustaining and developing the veterinary health workforce, such as mentorship, co-development, and communities of practice.

- Applications and projects are reviewed by a selection committee comprised of representatives of the Minister.
How to apply to the PISAQ – Stream 2 program
- Step 1: Prepare Application DocumentsDownload and complete the financial assistance application form.
- Download and complete the project cost annex document.
- Step 2: Compile Supporting MaterialsGather all necessary documents as specified in the program guidelines.
- Step 3: Submit the ApplicationEmail the completed application form and project cost annex to pisaq@mapaq.gouv.qc.ca before the applicable deadline.
- Step 4: Await Selection Committee ReviewYour submission will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of ministry representatives.

- Applications will be accepted continuously until December 15, 2027, or until program funds are exhausted, whichever comes first.
