  • Administrative expenses up to 15% of Public Safety funding, directly tied to project administration.
  • Costs for purchase or upgrades of police equipment, technology, or services necessary to strengthen project capacity.
  • Other extraordinary, reasonable, and justifiable policing costs, as approved by the Minister, necessary for additional public safety and security services within the scope of the project.

  • The Minister’s previous experience in working with the applicant, including degree of collaboration and the history and success of past projects.
  • Level of support from relevant stakeholders, including provincial/territorial governments, federal departments, agencies, and other partners.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Prepare Proposal Documents
    • Prepare a signed and dated application including the name and address of the applicant, the project duration, and contact information of an authorized signatory.
    • Clearly demonstrate how the proposal meets the program's objectives and outline the need, activities, and justification for the proposed approach.
    • Develop a detailed work plan that includes project activities, timelines, and expected outcomes.
    • Prepare a comprehensive budget detailing the type and nature of expenditures, disclosure of all funding sources (including in-kind contributions and any government assistance), funding requested, and previous financial support from the Government of Canada.
    • Provide descriptions of any resources, tools, reports, or materials to be developed.
    • Demonstrate the organization’s eligibility and capacity to deliver the project and achieve objectives.
    • Disclose any amounts owing in default to the Government of Canada.
    • Describe how the project will respect the Official Languages Act.
  • Step 2: Address Ethics and Conflict of Interest Requirements
    • Disclose involvement of any prospective recipients subject to relevant ethics legislation, such as the Values and Ethics Code for the Public Service or the Conflict of Interest Act.
    • Provide assurance of compliance with the Lobbying Act, including registration of lobbyists if applicable and disclosure of no conflict of interest or contingency fee arrangement.
    • Clarify the role of any departmental officials involved in advisory or governance roles as required.
  • Step 3: Submit Application
    • Send the completed application and all supporting documentation to the appropriate contact point, using the electronic correspondence form provided by the funder.
