Retrofit program updates to solar terms and application worksheets
The Retrofit Program Solar Photovoltaic Systems fact sheet now shows the small/medium generation incentive at $770/kW-AC instead of $860/kW-AC, and eligible mounting locations are now limited to rooftops only. The support email and phone number were removed from the fact sheet. The Retrofit application documents page also updated several required worksheets: the Solar PV DER worksheet is now Version 3.3 effective August 4, 2026, the Horticultural Lighting and Controls worksheet is now Version 3.1 effective August 4, 2026, and the HVAC Pumps worksheet was replaced by a broader Pumps worksheet.

Who is eligible?
- Owners or lessees of commercial spaces
- Owners or lessees of industrial facilities
- Owners or lessees of municipal buildings, universities, colleges, schools, hospitals, and multi-residential buildings
- Owners or lessees of agricultural facilities
- Lessees must have the owner's consent or authorization to participate
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Most lighting measures previously available under the Retrofit Program are no longer funded through this program and are now offered through the Save on Energy Instant Discounts Program.
- Wall-mount configurations are not eligible under the Prescriptive Solar DER offering.

How to apply
- Sign up for a Retrofit portal account.
- Submit the pre-project application.
- Receive pre-project approval.
- Install the project.
- Submit post-project information.
- Receive post-project approval, approval for the incentive amount, and incentive payment.
Processing and Agreement
- After the pre-project application is submitted, the applicant receives pre-project approval.
- After installation, the applicant submits post-project information and then receives post-project approval.
- The applicant then receives approval for the incentive amount.
- Submitted incentive invoices go through a review process, and the application reviewer may request further information if needed.
- Payment is issued after the incentive invoice has been accepted by the reviewer and the application has been approved for payment, typically within eight to twelve weeks.
Additional information
- The program has two streams: Prescriptive for common upgrades with set incentives and Custom for complex projects based on actual operating conditions.
- Only an Applicant can officially submit a Retrofit application, even when an Applicant Representative helps prepare it.
- If you had an existing account in the previous system, you must reactivate it using the same email address to receive a reactivation email.
- Resource Innovations may contact participants about completed projects that have received approval for incentive payment for program evaluation purposes.
