OVIN Talent Development Internship Program (OVIN-TIP) supports current college and university students and recent undergraduate or Master’s graduates in Ontario to work on industry-driven R&D projects in automotive and smart mobility technology. Selection criteria
- Project description: clarity of the project and objectives, and benefit to the company.
- Project plan: clarity of objectives for the intern, suitability of methodology, feasibility of the timeline and milestones, and plan for implementation of results at the company.
- Intern qualifications and experience: suitability of the intern’s background and expertise for the project, benefit of the placement to the intern, capacity of the industry partner, and strength of interaction with the partner organization to provide first-hand industry experience and/or exposure.
- Overall quality and completeness of the application.
How to apply
- Submit a Client Intake Form to inquire about the program and open an application.
- If the applicant, partner, intern, and project meet the eligibility criteria, OCI sends a link to the AccessOCI online application system.
- Complete the online application form, in collaboration with the industry partner if applicable, and upload the required supporting documents.
Processing and Agreement
- OCI reviews applications for eligibility, completeness, and financial compliance.
- Applicants receive deficiency notices and have two occasions to make required changes; unresolved issues after the second revision result in withdrawal of the application.
- Eligible and complete applications are reviewed by external subject matter experts, then by OCI’s Internal Review Panel for the final decision.
- Funding decisions are provided within four to six weeks.
- For approved projects, the funding agreement must be signed and returned within fifteen days of notification of the approved award, and project activation occurs once the signed agreement is received and, for institution-based internships, the required private sector industry cash component is received.
Additional information
- Intellectual property arising from the project is managed by the project participants; OCI does not claim or manage IP rights.
- For institution-based internships, the parties are bound by the IP terms of the university unless a separate agreement is in effect for the duration of the internship.
- For company-based internships, the parties are bound by the IP terms of the company where the intern is an employee for the duration of the internship.
