Overview of the Ontario On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) program
The Ontario On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) provides up to 65% cost-share funding to support farmers in implementing best management practices that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance carbon sequestration. Eligible activities include nitrogen management, cover cropping, and rotational grazing initiatives.
Financing terms and conditions
- Cost-share funding is available at 65% of approved project costs.
- Eligible costs can be incurred starting from January 1, 2023, for implementation of practices new to the project acres.
Eligible projects & activities
- Implementation of best management practices (BMPs) to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
- Adoption of in-field nitrogen management strategies on farm acres.
- Introduction or expansion of cover cropping practices.
- Establishment or enhancement of rotational grazing systems.

Eligibility criteria of the Ontario On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) program
- The applicant must be a farmer operating in Ontario.
- The project must implement best management practices (BMPs) that focus on in-field nitrogen management, cover cropping, or rotational grazing.
- The applicant must submit a complete application during an open intake period, including the required documentation (Enrolment and Application Form, FBRN or documentation supporting exemption or MPAC Assessment, valid and up-to-date Premises ID Number, and any other required supporting documents).

- Expenses for establishing or expanding cover cropping practices.
