Documents Needed
- Corporate financial statements for the two most recently completed fiscal years, current and dated within six months of the applicant’s most recent fiscal year-end.
- A business plan for requests of $50,000 or more; optional for requests under that amount.
- The Respectful Workplace Affidavit, signed and included with the application.
- Articles of incorporation or other corporation documents, submitted with every application.

Who is eligible?
- Not-for-profit music industry trade associations and music service organizations.
Eligible expenses
- Amortization expense related to permitted capital expenditures; where a capital asset has been rented, the actual rental cost is permitted.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Taxes recoverable by the applicant, including GST/HST, PST, and VAT, may not be included in the Activity Budget or claimed as an eligible cost in the Final Cost Report.

- Financial statements are reviewed to assess the feasibility of the proposed activity and the company’s overall track record.
How to apply
- First-time applicants must contact the Ontario Music Office at least three weeks before the application deadline to discuss eligibility.
- Submit the application electronically through the Ontario Creates Online Application Portal at https://apply.ontariocreates.ca/.
- If you do not have a user account on OAP, go to the portal and click Register.
- To start the application, click Start New Application and follow the directions through the five-step wizard to access the application form.
Processing and Agreement
- Successful applicants must sign a standard Ontario Transfer Payment Agreement, and the template may not be amended.
- Successful recipients must provide a Certificate of Insurance before the Transfer Payment Agreement can be executed.
- Recipients must acknowledge Ontario Creates support with an Ontario Creates credit and logo on the project and related publicity materials, and must advise Ontario Creates in advance of any mention of its involvement.
- Depending on the funding amount awarded, successful applicants may have to submit an interim report on the progress of their activities.
- A Final Cost Report is required for all applications supported by Ontario Creates; recipients awarded up to $150,000 may be selected for a spot audit and must provide invoices and proofs of payment on request.
