Overview
The Matane Green Fund Program provides financial support of up to $20,000 for projects that promote environmental protection, improved quality of life, and sustainable development within the city of Matane. Eligible activities include water preservation, waste management, biodiversity conservation, sustainable transportation, and community education initiatives.
Financing terms and conditions
- For non-profit organizations and public bodies: up to 90% for projects of $5,000 or less; up to 75% for projects between $5,001 and $10,000; up to 50% for projects over $10,000, with a maximum subsidy of $20,000 per project.
- For private companies: up to 50% for projects between $1,001 and $5,000; up to 33⅓% for projects over $5,000, with a maximum subsidy of $20,000 per project.
- Subsidies may be disbursed in up to three installments based on project milestones: 50% at start, 25% mid-way, and 25% after submission of the final report (for projects over $5,000); or 50% at start and 50% after the final report for smaller projects.
- Expenses incurred before official project approval are not reimbursable.
- Funding is considered non-recurring unless specifically decided otherwise for particular projects.

- Initiatives for the preservation and enhancement of biodiversity-rich areas.
- Development of active or low-emission transportation projects, such as community bike programs or installation of electric vehicle charging stations.
- Environmental awareness and educational campaigns for the community.

Eligibility
- The applicant must be a non-profit organization, public institution, or private company operating within the geographic territory of the City of Matane.
- The submitted project must align with at least one of the following areas: water preservation, sustainable waste management, biodiversity promotion, energy and emissions reduction, or quality of life improvement.
- The project must have positive outcomes for the community.

- Non-profit organizations operating in Matane
- Public organizations such as educational institutions, school organizations, and health or social service establishments in Matane
- Private companies located within the city of Matane
Who is not eligible
- Companies that do not operate within the geographic territory of the City of Matane.
- Private businesses applying for projects that benefit from other sources of financial aid (subject to committee discretion).
Eligible expenses
- Purchase of equipment and furniture required for project implementation.
- Professional services fees (e.g., specifications, installation, maintenance).
- Human resources costs related to project activities (e.g., technicians, project managers).
- Advertising and promotion expenses (e.g., newspaper and radio).

- Organizations and businesses operating within the geographic territory of the City of Matane, Quebec.
Selection criteria
- Alignment of the project with the objectives of the Green Fund program.
- Inclusion of the project in at least one intervention axis described in the program.
- Positive impact of the project on the community.
- Relevance and presentation of the organization and its fit with the project's goals (10%).
- Project presentation and demonstration of its connection to intervention axes, including qualitative and quantitative expected results and educational value (30%).
- Clarity and feasibility of the implementation approach, including work plan, methodology, communication, and resource allocation (35%).
- Realism and proportionality of the budget, including detailed expenses, funding sources, and financial engagements (25%).

- Benefit from guidance to enhance your project prior to submission

Prepare application and documents
- Download and complete the grant application form from the program website
- Prepare a cost estimate for the project, funding requested, and information on confirmed financial partners
- Gather required supporting documents

Submit your application
- Submit the completed application form, cost estimate, and all supporting documents
- Send your application by email or mail to the contact specified in the program guidelines

Application evaluation process
- Your application is reviewed individually by the selection committee
- The committee may request additional information or a project presentation

Receive decision notification
- Receive written notification of the decision
- If accepted, obtain the council resolution confirming funding and details of the financial arrangement

Project implementation and follow-up
- Implement the project according to the approved plan and financial guidelines
- Follow the disbursement schedule: initial advance, mid-term payment (for large projects), and final payment upon submission of the final report

Submit final report
- Prepare and submit the final project report within 30 days after project completion
- Include achieved results, performance indicators, communication activities, financial overview, and supporting documents
Additional information
- Unused funds at year-end are returned to the Green Fund envelope for the following year.
- A registry is maintained to prioritize organizations that have never received Green Fund support.
- Pre-deposit support is available from the City for project enhancement.
- Each project is individually reviewed by a selection committee, which may request additional information or a presentation from the applicant.
