Who is eligible?
- Indigenous governments, tribal councils or other forms of regional government
- National or regional Indigenous representative organizations
- Indigenous development corporations
- Indigenous communities, bands or settlements; district councils, chiefs’ councils or tribal councils; Indigenous associations, organizations or societies
- Indigenous commissions, councils, authorities or boards; Indigenous economic institutions, organizations, corporations or co-operatives; partnerships or aggregations of Indigenous communities or organizations
Eligible expenses

- Professional fees, including consultant services
- Room rental and other facility costs; public awareness, documents and communication activities; translation services; and honoraria
- Consultation expenses for Indigenous communities, including consultations directly related to the project and required under the Crown’s duty to consult Indigenous peoples
- Travel expenses, including accommodation, vehicle rental and mileage, other transportation by bus, train, air or taxi, meal and incidental allowances; administrative expenses up to a maximum equal to 15% of the total TC contribution, including general administration, rent, insurance, office equipment rental and membership fees; and provincial sales tax, GST or HST when the recipient is not eligible for reimbursement

Processing and Agreement
- After receiving an application, Transport Canada will assess whether it is eligible for funding and inform the applicant.
- Transport Canada will provide a written acknowledgment within 10 business days of receiving the application.
- Transport Canada reserves the right to accept or refuse any application received and may request clarifications if the information is incomplete.
- If approved, a funding approval letter will be sent, and the approved application will form the official agreement between the recipient and Transport Canada.
- An attestation form will be sent with the approval letter; the recipient must complete and sign it after the activities are completed and submit it no later than 30 days after completion. Transport Canada will make payments within 20 business days after notifying the recipient that the funding agreement requirements have been met, and it may request that the funding be returned if the attestation form is not sent.
