Who is eligible?

  • Book publishers
  • Ontario-based private sector companies
  • Canadian-owned corporations

Who is not eligible

  • Companies that are not book publishers
  • Applicants not based in Ontario
  • Non-incorporated businesses
  • Consultants, sales agents, and other non-employee representatives

Eligible expenses

  • Event registration and booth or exhibitor fees
  • Economy travel, accommodation and per diem costs
  • Marketing materials created for the activities
  • Ground transportation such as taxis or ride share, when eligible

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Staff and operations costs
  • Hospitality and entertainment expenses
  • Standard business cards and standard catalogs
  • Travel insurance and communications costs
  • Costs already covered by another source for the same activity

How to apply

  • Step 1: Register on the Online Application Portal
    • Create or access an OAP account.
    • Register your company’s corporate information.
  • Step 2: Start the application
    • Open a new Global Market Development Fund application in the OAP.
    • Complete the form and save your work as needed.
  • Step 3: Prepare supporting materials
    • Complete the required documents listed in the portal.
    • Use the GMD Activity Calculator to prepare the request.
  • Step 4: Submit online
    • Upload the required materials in the OAP.
    • Submit the application before the deadline.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed by Ontario Creates staff.
  • Funding decisions are competitive and final.
  • Successful applicants must sign an Ontario Transfer Payment Agreement.
  • Funding is released after agreement execution and final reporting.
  • Interim, final, and follow-up reports may be required.
