Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Existing blueberry growers removing and not replanting their fields.
  • Existing cranberry growers renewing their fields.

Who is not eligible

  • Annual crop producers, forage producers, non-commercial producers, and farmland outside of BC.
  • Sectors that do not have an opportunity assessment completed and pre-approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
  • Producers who do not meet stream-specific criteria.
  • Producers with active Plant Loss Claims.
  • Applicants with an active project with the Perennial Crop Renewal Program (PCRP) (2023-2025).

Eligible expenses

  • Blueberry removal costs, provided removal of plants takes place after application approval and removal has not been funded through other programs.
  • Cranberry renewal costs, provided removal of plants takes place after application approval and removal has not been funded through other programs.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Fields that do not meet the contiguous 0.5 acre minimum, including different locations with different PIDs, non-touching areas on the same PID, or fields separated by a paved road or highway.
  • Interplanting in existing orchards or vineyards.
  • New plantings, including farm expansions and the establishment of crops on bare land or land previously used for non-perennial or non-food perennial crops.
  • Home nurseries, GST, in-kind expenses, taxes and duty, and shipping costs.
  • Other planting or removal costs, including equipment rental, posts and wire, labour, ongoing annual royalty payments, and ineligible commodity-specific criteria in the sector-specific guidelines.

Selection criteria

  • Confirmed plant order for all fields at the time of application.
  • Enrollment in Production Insurance.
  • Enrollment in AgriStability or vertical integration that makes the applicant ineligible for AgriStability.
  • A current Environmental Farm Plan or one being renewed or applied for.
  • Blueberry removal fields removed due to high levels of Blueberry Scorch Virus, and cranberry removal fields removing old varieties including Stevens, Berman, Pilgrim, Ben Lear, McFarlin, or Grygleski Hybrid 1.

How to apply

  • Create a personal profile and register your organization in the IAF Client Portal.
  • Select Enhanced Replant Program – Stream 4 from Funding Opportunities.
  • Provide applicant and project details, including commodity type, PID, civic address, planting proposal, and funding request.
  • Complete the AF Demographic Survey and submit the confirmation ID with the application.
  • Upload supporting documents, including the Corporate Registry if you are a corporation or partnership.
  • Review the application and submit it from the review screen.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are screened and reviewed by IAF and may also be reviewed by a technical expert.
  • IAF may request additional information or clarification before making a funding decision.
  • After staff review, 10% of eligible applications are selected for further audit and review by an Accredited Professional.
  • Successful applicants must complete all removal or renewal activities and submit a project report and/or complete an on-site field inspection before payment.
  • Field inspections are conducted for a minimum of 25% of completed projects within 3 to 6 months of project completion; approved applicants are notified by email within 8 weeks, and funding decisions are final.
