The Community Funding - Civic Events Funding provides up to $3,000 per event to local not-for-profit organizations in Ottawa to support family-friendly community events. Eligible activities include organizing events that foster neighbourhood connections, prioritize inclusivity, and promote community well-being.

  • The project must promote community well-being, equity, and inclusion, prioritizing engagement with designated priority populations.
  • The application must be complete, with all required information and documents submitted as per guidelines.

Selection criteria

  • Strength and relevance of organizational information, including mandate and governance (33%).
  • Alignment of event scope, activities, and objectives with the funding purpose; effective planning; focus on priority neighborhood or group (33%).
  • Demonstrated organizational capacity to lead the event (17%).
  • Reasonableness and feasibility of the proposed budget (17%).

Await evaluation and results

  • Wait for the City of Ottawa to review and assess your application according to established criteria

  • Results are communicated on April 30, 2025

Accept funding and fulfill requirements

  • For successful applications, receive a contribution offer and draft agreement by email
  • Contact the City within 5 business days to accept and sign the agreement
  • Provide proof of required insurance and other requested documents
  • Receive funding as a single payment after finalizing the agreement

Submit required post-event report

  • After the event, provide a financial statement with actual revenues and expenses
  • Submit a concise report describing the outcomes of the civic event

Additional information

  • Successful applicants must submit a financial statement of actual revenues and expenses as part of their reporting obligations.
  • If the organization is not incorporated, at least three directors must sign the Contribution Agreement and are individually liable for the event.
  • Events featuring bouncy castles require setup and supervision by a professional company with its own insurance.
  • Fireworks included in the event must be supervised by a fireworks Supervisor, in accordance with municipal guidelines.
