The Commemorative Partnership Program supports non-profit and for-profit organizations, as well as Canadian provincial, territorial, and municipal governments in Canada or abroad, to deliver remembrance projects for Canadian service since Confederation (1867). It funds community engagement initiatives, community war memorial construction, restoration or expansion, and projects honouring the 2nd Construction Battalion.

Eligible expenses

  • For community engagement projects: professional fees, administrative costs, machinery and equipment rental, facility rental, hospitality costs, production and distribution of documents, salaries or wages, and design or evaluation costs for permanent exhibits, plus construction costs for permanent exhibits.
  • For community war memorial projects: professional fees, administrative costs, machinery and equipment rental, reasonable travel expenses, salaries or wages, design or evaluation costs, relocation costs for a monument where needed, and construction costs.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Projects completed before the application is submitted.
  • Projects that establish a need for ongoing operational funding, overlap ACC commemorative initiatives, create financial dependence, are commercial and generate profits or economic value, or have revenues equal to or greater than projected expenses.
  • Projects dedicated solely to an individual, including a cenotaph or a monument erected in memory of one person.
  • Monuments of national significance or monuments located on federal lands, except reserves.
  • International air travel, land or building purchases, operational expenses, fundraising costs, book editing, documentary and film production, insurance, and site improvements such as landscaping, benches, bins, and fences.

  • Applicant capacity to deliver the project.
  • Clear, realistic objectives aligned with the program.
  • Project reach and impact.
  • Confirmed collaboration where required.
  • Reasonable and sufficiently detailed budget.

How to apply

  • Review the program guidelines.
  • Submit the application electronically through the virtual portal.
  • Upload the application and supporting documents through the portal; mail and email applications are not accepted.

Processing and Agreement

  • ACC acknowledges receipt of applications and may request additional information.
  • Only complete applications will be assessed.
  • ACC aims to provide a written funding decision within 12 weeks after the application deadline, provided the application is complete.
  • Beneficiaries must comply with the funding agreement, including submitting a final report showing the project results.

  • Projects related to the heritage of the 2nd Construction Battalion should use the guidelines that best match the project.
