The Participant Funding Program decisions page now lists two newly approved awards: $200,000 for Ontario Power Generation’s application to renew its licence for the Western Waste Management Facility and $4,840 for Grand Conseil de la Nation W8banaki’s review of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories’ application to amend the Gentilly-1 waste facility licence. On the Regulatory Oversight Reports page, the Canadian Coalition for Nuclear Responsibility award changed from $20,000 to $10,000. The page’s displayed update date also changed to August 28, 2026.

Selection criteria

  • Applications are awarded a portion of the available funding based on the merit of the application.

How to apply

  • Access the PFP application form.
  • Complete the PFP application form.
  • Submit the PFP application form to the CNSC’s PFP Administrator by email, fax or mail.

Processing and Agreement

  • The PFP administrator will notify you within one business day of the receipt of your application and initiate the review and approval process.
  • An independent funding review committee (FRC), composed of a panel of external experts, will review your application and recommend whether or not your funding request should be approved, including the amount and any objectives you will have to meet.
  • The PFP administrator will then notify you of the CNSC’s final decision within 25 business days of the closing date for the application process.
  • The CNSC will issue a contribution agreement to all successful PFP funding applicants.
  • The CNSC issues funding payments once PFP funding recipients have demonstrated they have met the objectives outlined within their contribution agreement, submitted a final financial report (FFR) detailing their eligible expenses, and completed a recipient survey; payment will be made within 30 days of receipt of a valid final financial report (FFR).
