Overview
The Canada Service Corps – Service Placements Regional Stream provides funding of up to $3,000,000 per fiscal year to eligible organizations to support the creation and delivery of flexible volunteer service placements for youth. This program aims to foster civic engagement and improve community well-being through local initiatives that involve youth, including those from Indigenous and under-served populations.
Financing terms and conditions
- Funding of up to $3,000,000 per fiscal year for eligible projects.
- Projects may be funded for up to three years, with funding potentially available from August 2024 to March 31, 2027.
- Financial assistance does not cover paid opportunities for youth (such as wages, stipends, or completion bonuses).

Eligibility
- The applicant must be an organization with a local or regional reach focused on youth-serving activities.
- The organization must offer volunteer service placements for youth aged 12 to 30 at the time their service placement begins.
- The project should prioritize engaging Indigenous and/or under-served youth populations.
- The applicant may only submit one application per stream, and the application must meet the eligibility criteria specific to the Regional Stream.
- Organizations delivering programming in Quebec and subject to M-30 must obtain authorization from the Government of Quebec before finalizing any agreement.

- Youth-serving organizations with a local or regional reach
- Organizations serving Indigenous or under-served youth
Who is not eligible
- Organizations without a Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) business or registration number (unless they are Indigenous organizations applying by email or mail).
- Quebec organizations subject to the Act respecting the Ministère du Conseil exécutif (M-30) without prior authorization from the Government of Quebec.
Eligible expenses
- Payments to a third organization to reimburse expenses incurred to carry out the project activities (refer to the eligible expenses list specific to each component of the program).

- Organizations located or operating in Canada, including all provinces and territories.
Selection criteria
- Alignment with the program’s objective to expand and diversify meaningful service opportunities for youth, with priority given to projects serving Indigenous and under-served youth.
- Potential to create longer-term, multi-year service placements for youth (ages 12 to 30) that positively impact communities.
- Ability to offer supports that increase participant engagement and successful project completion.
- Commitment to diversity, as evidenced by responses to diversity-related questions in the application process, which may be prioritized in assessment.

Register and access submission platform
- Register and access the Grants and Contributions Online Services (GCOS) portal
- Alternatively, prepare to apply by email or mail if not eligible for GCOS
- Complete registration using the CRA business or registration number, if available

Complete and compile application form
- Fill out the application form with all mandatory fields completed
- Attach required documents and ensure compliance with application criteria
- Provide information on diversity and accessibility if applicable

Submit the application
- Submit the completed application via GCOS, email, or mail before the deadline
- Ensure acknowledgment of receipt from the submission system or by email

Await assessment and respond if required
- Monitor communications for updates on the application status
- Respond promptly to any additional requests for information from program administrators
Additional information
- The application period was extended to 10 weeks to allow applicants more time to prepare submissions.
- Information sessions with accessibility features such as ASL, LSQ, and CART are offered to support applicants.
- Organizations may enter into third-party agreements to accomplish project objectives, including funding distribution to partners.
- Diversity-related prioritization criteria are applied broadly across all streams in the current Call for Proposals.
