Overview of the Canada Council for the Arts — program
The Canada Council for the Arts Composite Activities grant provides up to $100,000 per year for a maximum of three years to support Canadian artists, arts workers, groups, and organizations in undertaking multi-year, large, or complex projects. Eligible activities include artistic creation, residencies, research, publishing, audience development, professional training, and public presentations within the arts sector.
Financing terms and conditions
- Funding of up to $100,000 per year for projects, for a maximum of 3 years.
- Total financial assistance can reach up to $300,000 over the duration of the grant.

- Execution of multi-year artistic creation and production projects.
- Implementation of organizational development and professional training initiatives for artists and arts workers.
- Development and management of residencies, research, and knowledge-sharing forums in the arts sector.
- Publication and dissemination of Canadian literary works and critical discourse.
- Initiatives to expand audience engagement and market development for Canadian arts nationally and internationally.

Eligibility criteria of the Canada Council for the Arts — program
- The applicant must be a Canadian artist, arts or cultural worker, artistic group, or organization.
- The project must involve multiple, large, or complex activities to be carried out over a period of up to 3 years.
- The proposed activities must support the artistic process, publication, innovation, public engagement, or market development for Canadian arts.

- The Canada Council is transitioning to a new funding portal, with the current portal becoming unavailable starting May 26, 2025.
- The updated portal and this grant component will only be available after the new system is launched in summer 2025.
