Overview
The AgriMarketing Program: Market Diversification for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises provides a non-repayable AAFC contribution normally under $100,000 (up to 70% of eligible project costs) to help for-profit SMEs open new, non-traditional markets and expand export and interprovincial trade. Funding supports activities that develop and implement marketing strategies to diversify into high-growth potential markets and respond to trade disruptions and global market volatility.
Activities funded
- Projects to open new, non-traditional markets and expand export activities to increase the volume and value of Canadian exports and interprovincial trade.
- Projects that help agricultural, agri-food, and agri-products businesses (including fish and seafood) diversify beyond traditional markets to reduce trade uncertainty.
- Projects targeting new opportunities in high-growth potential and non-traditional markets to diversify exports and strengthen interprovincial trade.
- Projects that develop marketing strategies across the agricultural supply chain (including fish and seafood) to diversify into new markets.
- Projects that respond to specific trade disruptions affecting highly impacted sectors.

Eligible geographic areas

Selection criteria
- Priority given to projects that help the agriculture and agri-food sector (including fish and seafood) diversify beyond traditional markets to support long-term growth and reduce current and future trade uncertainties.
- Focus on opening new, non-traditional markets and expanding export activities to increase and diversify the volume and value of Canadian exports and interprovincial trade.
- Targeting new opportunities in high-growth potential and non-traditional markets (for example, Africa, the Middle East, and the Indo-Pacific) to expand global exports and strengthen interprovincial trade.
- Responding to specific trade disruptions for highly impacted sectors and reducing the impacts of volatility and unpredictability in the current global trading context.
- Sector prioritization: projects from sectors directly impacted by tariffs and trade disruptions in the past 12 months, as well as those targeting new markets, will be assessed as a priority.
