Role of the Town of Hawkesbury in the Funding Ecosystem
As a municipal government, the Town of Hawkesbury plays a vital role in supporting community organizations that deliver services to residents. Through its Leisure and Community Services department, the municipality administers the Organization Support Program, which provides multiple forms of assistance to recognized community groups.
General Evaluation Criteria for Applications
Organizations must first obtain formal recognition from the Town before being eligible for support. The evaluation process involves the selection committee, a leisure services representative, and the treasurer. Applications are assessed based on criteria outlined in the municipal policy and recommendations are forwarded to Town Council for final approval. Recurring requests may receive continued support at Council's discretion.
Types of Support Available
Financial Support: Funding is available for new organizations (startup costs), operational support for organizations meeting Council-defined priorities, and special events. All financial support requests must be submitted between February and March 31.
Administrative Support: The Town can provide insurance coverage for events (for a fee) and promotional support using municipal media channels.
Physical Support: Recognized organizations can access municipal facilities and equipment (tables, chairs, barriers) for events, subject to 60-day advance booking. Storage space may also be available.
