What else should I know about Quebec International Youth Offices (LOJIQ)?

Les Offices jeunesse internationaux du Québec (LOJIQ) traces its roots back to the creation of the Franco-Quebec Youth Office in 1968, which was designed to promote exchange opportunities between young people from Quebec and France. Over the following decades, Quebec expanded these efforts by establishing the Quebec–Wallonia-Brussels Youth Office in 1984 and the Quebec–Americas Youth Office in 2000, further broadening horizons for international cooperation and mobility. In 2007, the Government of Quebec consolidated these organizations into LOJIQ, creating a unified structure that streamlined services and strengthened support for youth mobility. The establishment of the LOJIQ Foundation reinforced this mission by diversifying funding sources and deepening partnerships.
In 2017, LOJIQ’s mandate was expanded to include not only international mobility but also projects taking place within Quebec and across other Canadian provinces. Operating under the authority of the Ministry of International Relations and La Francophonie, LOJIQ acts as a mandated organization of the Quebec government to administer youth-focused financial support programs. It provides comprehensive assistance — from personalized coaching to direct financial aid such as travel grants and living allowances — to help young adults realize meaningful professional, cultural, and personal projects.
LOJIQ’s initiatives are guided by major themes including international mobility, professional development, civic engagement, and entrepreneurship. Its programs allow young people to complete internships abroad, participate in volunteer missions, undertake entrepreneurial or cultural projects, and gain valuable skills that strengthen their employability and social engagement. The organization also emphasizes environmental sustainability, francophone culture, and Indigenous inclusion, encouraging projects that align with global challenges and values of solidarity.
Through these efforts, LOJIQ stands as a leading institution in youth mobility and development. It empowers thousands of young Quebecers each year to pursue transformative experiences that build confidence, competence, and openness to the world, while contributing to a new generation of globally engaged citizens ready to shape the future with creativity and purpose.
