The Caisse Solidaire: Supporting a Sustainable and Social Economy
A Financial Cooperative for Social Movements and Engaged Citizens
The Caisse d’économie solidaire is Quebec’s main financial cooperative specializing in social economy and responsible investment (RI). Bringing together nearly 22,000 members, it pools their savings to invest $1.6 billion in loans to Quebec cooperatives and non-profit organizations (NPOs). With assets nearing $2.5 billion, the Caisse is recognized for its specialized expertise within the Desjardins Movement.
Responsible Investment for Collective Entrepreneurship
Beyond offering the full range of financial products and services from the Desjardins network, the Caisse emphasizes a responsible investment approach. Engaged citizens can see their savings put directly at the service of collective entrepreneurship, creating positive impact for the community.
Supporting Community Housing and Collective Enterprises
A dedicated team at the Caisse provides tailored financing solutions for community housing projects and enterprises. By collaborating with key sector partners, they facilitate custom financial arrangements suited to the unique needs of collective businesses, co-ops, NPOs, and cultural organizations.
