Discovering ALTERGO: Champion of Universal Accessibility

What is Universal Accessibility?

Universal accessibility ensures that every person, regardless of their abilities, enjoys the same opportunities and a high-quality experience, independently and autonomously. It is about removing barriers so everyone can participate equally in society.

The Mission of ALTERGO

ALTERGO's mission is to promote universal accessibility everywhere, for everyone. This is accomplished through three distinct branches: Expertise, Events, and Association. Together, these entities foster awareness, provide resources, and create supportive networks for accessible recreation, sports, and cultural activities.

ALTERGO Expertise

ALTERGO Expertise gathers and develops know-how in universal accessibility. It sensitizes and supports organizations across Quebec by offering specialized training, awareness-raising activities, and tailored consulting services. The goal is to empower organizations to become more inclusive.

ALTERGO Events

ALTERGO Events raises public awareness about the capabilities of individuals with functional limitations by organizing inclusive sporting, leisure, and cultural events. The most notable example is the Défi sportif AlterGo—the largest annual multisport event in Canada, bringing together elite and up-and-coming athletes from all functional backgrounds.

ALTERGO Association

Through the Association, ALTERGO supports, unites, and represents its network of member organizations. By mobilizing stakeholders across Montreal, the Association works to address key issues in universal accessibility, ensuring greater access to sports, leisure, and culture for people with functional limitations.

Tools, Guides, and Training

ALTERGO offers a comprehensive suite of tools, guides, and training opportunities to help organizations improve their accessibility. These resources equip community members, professionals, and volunteers with the knowledge and skills needed to foster an inclusive environment.

Get Involved with ALTERGO

ALTERGO welcomes new members, volunteers, and supporters who want to contribute to a more accessible world. Whether you’re interested in making a donation, offering your expertise, or becoming a volunteer, your involvement is essential in advancing universal accessibility for all.
