Overview
The Wildlife Damage Compensation Program provides New Brunswick agricultural producers with up to $35,000 per year (up to 80% compensation) to offset eligible crop losses and livestock death or injury caused by wildlife. Eligible activities include reporting and allowing inspection of damage within 72 hours and taking reasonable prevention measures such as fencing, netting, scare devices, and other best management practices.

Eligibility
- The applicant must be an agricultural producer in New Brunswick.
- The claim must relate to crop damage or livestock loss/injury caused by wildlife.
- The producer must report the damage or loss to the Department within 72 hours of discovering it.
- The damage or loss must be confirmed by the Department (and crops must not be harvested before inspection).
- For crop claims, the producer must have at least $500 in losses and the damaged area must be at least 0.25 acres.

- New Brunswick agricultural producers (livestock producers)
Who is not eligible
- Non-agricultural businesses (i.e., organizations that are not New Brunswick agricultural producers).
- Agricultural operations located outside New Brunswick.

- Losses of eligible crops and other eligible agricultural products damaged by wildlife.
- Losses due to wildlife predation causing death or injury to eligible livestock.

- The program is administered by the New Brunswick Agricultural Insurance Commission (NBAIC), and producers do not need to be an Agricultural Insurance client to receive compensation.
