Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Indigenous bands, tribal councils, and self-governing First Nations
  • Indigenous organizations and agencies in urban areas
  • Non-profit non-governmental organizations
  • Municipal or regional governments or agencies
  • Provincial and territorial governments

Who is not eligible

  • Businesses without Indigenous partnership or support, when proposing a jointly led project
  • Organizations unable to demonstrate adequate Indigenous involvement for the work proposed
  • Projects based on capital purchases such as land, buildings, or vehicles

Eligible expenses

  • Salaries and wages, including employee benefits
  • Honoraria and culturally appropriate costs
  • Travel, accommodation, meals, childcare, and dependent care
  • Rental or leasing of meeting and conference facilities
  • Contracted services, operating costs, training, evaluations, translation, and audit costs

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Capital expenses, including land, buildings, and vehicles
  • Retroactive funding
  • Fundraising-related expenses
  • Thesis-related activities

How to apply
