Eligible expenses
- Promotion costs, including digital promotion and discoverability, promotional material, advertising, launch strategies, special screenings, regional promotional tours, collective projects, staff salaries, and music licences for promotional materials.
- Support to production in cash only, including minimum guarantee.
- Business consolidation costs, including technological upgrades, database creation, and IT systems for rights or sales tracking.
- Public development costs, including market research, pedagogical guides, mediation activities, projection costs, invited artists or guests, and room rental.
- Technical and diffusion costs, including laboratory work, duplication, dubbing and subtitling, digitization and online posting, copy delivery, programming salaries or fees, room rental, and screening rights.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Association membership fees.
- Software subscription fees.
- Promotional touring activities organized by the distributor during a national release.
- Television series and television documentaries created for television.
- Expenses already reimbursed by an association to its members, for organizations of diffusion and programming.

Selection criteria
- Number of films distributed and gross distribution revenues on Quebec and less-diffused foreign films.
- Diversification of Quebec film distribution revenue sources, including digital distribution revenues and institutional sales.
- Gross box-office revenues, operating revenues, and cinema attendance, depending on the applicant category.
- Public development activities related to cinema.
- Satisfactory financial health of the applicant.
How to apply
- Submit the formal annual application through the secure SOD@ccès portal.
- Create your user profile if you are a new user, or enter your access codes.
- Choose the program number corresponding to the stream.
- Complete the application form and upload all required documents.
- Prepare the documents to upload in an accepted digital format before filing, and submit the application no later than 23:59 on the last day of the intake period.
Processing and Agreement
- Only complete and compliant applications are analyzed; incomplete applications at the deadline are declared inadmissible and must be resubmitted.
- SODEC professionals analyze the files and may seek external opinions.
- If SODEC requests additional information or an update, the applicant has 5 working days to provide it; incomplete responses may lead to refusal.
- If the application is retained, the closing documents listed in the agreement must be submitted through SOD@ccès and are required for payment of the final portion of the subsidy.

Commercial exhibitors and organizations of diffusion and programming must have at least 2 years of activity or relevant professional experience.
