Who is eligible?
- Commercial spaces

- New lighting in newly constructed buildings
- Solar PV projects using net metering or compensation agreements
- Facilities without the required project and portal permissions
- Projects that have already entered a binding commitment before application submission
Eligible expenses
- Eligible project costs for energy-efficiency retrofits.
- Equipment and installation costs for approved measures.
- Material costs for solar PV systems, including inverters and racking.
- Third-party labour to install EMIS equipment.
- Measurement and verification plan costs for EMIS projects.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Most lighting measures are now offered through the Instant Discounts Program.
- Lighting incentives are not available for new construction.
- Solar PV projects using net metering or compensation agreements are not eligible.

How to apply
- Step 1: Register in the Retrofit portal
- Create an account and activate it by email.
- Complete the portal registration and security setup.
- Step 2: Prepare the application
- Enter applicant, facility, and project details.
- Add the applicable measures and supporting worksheets.
- Step 3: Submit for review
- Applicant submits the pre-project application in the portal.
- The Save on Energy Technical Reviewer reviews the application.
- Step 4: Complete the project and post-project submission
- After pre-approval and project completion, prepare the post-project submission.
- Update actual project data and resubmit for review.
- Step 5: Submit the final invoice
- Upload the incentive invoice to the Retrofit portal after approval.
- Wait for invoice review and incentive payment processing.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are assigned to a technical reviewer after submission.
- The pre-approval review takes about two to three weeks.
- If needed, applicants may be asked for further documentary evidence.
- Applicants are notified through the Retrofit portal and/or their Save on Energy representative.
- Some applications may be selected for quality assurance and quality control review.
