- Facilities without the required project and portal permissions
- Projects that have already entered a binding commitment before application submission
Eligible expenses
- Eligible project costs for energy-efficiency retrofits.
- Equipment and installation costs for approved measures.
- Material costs for solar PV systems, including inverters and racking.
- Third-party labour to install EMIS equipment.
- Measurement and verification plan costs for EMIS projects.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Lighting incentives for most measures after December 17, 2023, where moved to Instant Discounts.
- Net metering or compensation agreements for solar PV systems.
- Spare parts, spare equipment, or inventory.
- Recurring software subscription costs incurred after EMIS project implementation.

- Applications are reviewed by a Save on Energy Technical Reviewer.
- Pre-approval usually takes about two to three weeks.
- Approved projects receive a formal notice through the portal.
- Post-project submissions and final invoices are reviewed before incentive payment.
- Measurement and verification may apply to Custom projects.
