The OVIN Talent Development Fellowship Program supports up to $35,000 per 12-month unit, to a maximum of $70,000, for fellowship projects in automotive and smart mobility. It supports PhD graduates and post-doctoral fellows working on industry-driven R&D activities in areas such as connected and autonomous vehicles, electric vehicles, battery technologies, and related fields.

Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Current PhD students
  • Applicants or fellows with a recent employment relationship with the company

Eligible expenses

  • Projects without clearly defined R&D activities, milestones, and outcomes
  • “First job”-type placements
  • Expenses incurred before project activation

How to apply

  • Step 1
    • Submit the client intake form to start the process.
    • OCI will contact the applicant through a Business Development Manager.
  • Step 2
    • Complete the online application in AccessOCI once invited.
    • Upload the required supporting documents.
  • Step 3
    • Respond to any deficiencies identified during OCI’s internal review.
    • Resubmit revised information if requested.
  • Step 4
    • Wait for external expert review and the final funding decision.
    • If approved, sign the funding agreement to activate the project.

Processing and Agreement

  • Client intake form is reviewed to determine whether the application can proceed.
  • Eligible and complete applications are reviewed internally for eligibility, completeness, and financial compliance.
  • Applications are then reviewed by external subject matter experts and assessed by OCI’s Internal Review Panel.
  • Applicants are notified of the funding decision within four to six weeks.
  • Approved applicants must sign OCI’s funding agreement before the project is activated.
