How to apply

Verify Eligibility

  • Ensure your organization meets the eligibility criteria set out by MiHR and Natural Resources Canada.
  • Review the Green Jobs Program's specific requirements and limitations.

Prepare Application Documents

  • Draft a detailed job description that includes the environmental impact of the role.
  • Develop a training plan outlining the skills and learning outcomes for the participant.
  • Prepare a recruitment plan detailing how you will source job-ready youth participants.
  • Calculate participant compensation costs, including wages, MERC’s, and any associated training costs.

Submit Application

  • Complete the application form through the MiHR online portal.
  • Ensure all required documents and information are accurately filled in and uploaded.
  • Submit the application before the specified deadline.

Await Application Review

  • Wait for MiHR to review the application, which will occur within 10 business days after the deadline.
  • Receive notification from MiHR regarding the approval status of your application.

Document Signing and Placement Initiation

  • If approved, receive the hiring organization agreement, the Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) form, and Participation Information Form (PIF) from MiHR.
  • Sign and return the agreement, the signed PIF, EFT form, and a void cheque to MiHR.

End of Placement Documentation

  • Complete the post-placement questionnaire with the participant.
  • Provide earnings statements or other necessary documentation for the final payment of the wage subsidy.

Processing and Agreement

  • MiHR reviews applications after the deadline and notifies applicants within 10 business days.
  • If approved, MiHR sends the hiring organization agreement, EFT form, Participation Information Form, and payment details.
  • The hiring organization must sign and return the required forms and provide a void cheque.
  • At the end of the placement, a post-placement questionnaire and earnings documents are required.

  • Applications are reviewed by MiHR and applicants are notified within 10 business days after the deadline.
  • Each job opportunity requires a separate application.
  • The participant cannot be a former employee of the hiring organization.
