- The applicant must be one of the recognized Métis governments: Manitoba Métis Federation, Métis Nation British Columbia, Métis Nation of Ontario, Métis Nation Saskatchewan, or Otipemisiwak Métis Government (formerly the Métis Nation of Alberta).
- Projects must focus on the maintenance, revitalization, or reclamation of Métis languages.
