- Sales and marketing activities.
- Security or safety certifications and related consulting.
- Alcohol, tips, and unreasonable travel expenses.
- Consultant fees to prepare the application or claims.
- Costs not included in the approved project budget.

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed in two stages: expression of interest and full proposal.
- Completed submissions are assessed by a panel of at least three reviewers.
- Top-scoring submissions move to the next phase.
- Final funding decisions are communicated after the review process.
- A collaboration agreement and the CFIN Master Project Agreement are required before project implementation.

- CFIN membership is mandatory and free.
- Funding is reimbursed after costs are incurred.
- A non-refundable 5% project management fee applies if approved.
