Overview of the Green Industrial Facilities and Manufacturing Program (GIFMP) — Industrial Facility Track program
Get financial assistance up to $10 million for activities engaged in energy consuming processes that involve the physical or chemical transformation of materials or substances into new products.
Financing terms and conditions
- Financial assistance covers up to 50% of eligible project costs per proposal.
- Indigenous or not-for-profit organizations may receive up to 100% of eligible costs.
- Funding amounts range from a minimum of $40,000 to a maximum of $10 million per proposal.
Eligible projects & activities
- Training programs to develop skills in energy management for industrial workforce.
- Conducting energy assessments and audits to identify efficiency opportunities and reduce emissions.
- Engagement and support of dedicated energy managers to drive energy-saving measures.
- Implementation of comprehensive energy management systems to monitor and improve energy performance.
- Retrofit projects that upgrade or modify energy-consuming systems and equipment to improve energy efficiency and lower greenhouse gas emissions, provided these are non-emitting and integrated with energy management systems.

Eligibility criteria of the Green Industrial Facilities and Manufacturing Program (GIFMP) — Industrial Facility Track program
- The applicant must operate a Canadian industrial facility engaged in energy-consuming processes that transform materials or substances into new products.
- The project must support the implementation of energy efficiency and/or energy management solutions.
- The activities proposed must align with eligible activities, such as training, energy assessments, appointing energy managers, implementing energy management systems, or undertaking energy efficiency retrofit capital investments.
Who is eligible?
- Canadian industrial facilities engaged in energy-consuming processes that involve the physical or chemical transformation of materials or substances into new products
- Indigenous-owned industrial facilities meeting the above criteria
- Not-for-profit organizations operating eligible industrial facilities
Who is not eligible
- Companies proposing new construction projects.
- Businesses seeking funding for fleet vehicles not used directly for an industrial process.
- Organizations planning investments focused on lighting, warehouses, or building envelopes.

- Salaries and benefits of employees directly involved in the project.
- Professional services related to the implementation of eligible activities.
- License fees, data purchases, and certification costs necessary for the project.
- Regulatory compliance and inspection costs.
- Construction insurance and permits required for project execution.

Ensure the submission of your complete proposal through the online portal by the deadline of August 30, 2024, or March 31, 2025, for Indigenous applications.
