Eligibility criteria
The Artistic Institutions grant supports major Canadian arts organizations that advance artistic practice and cultural development in their communities. Evaluation & selection criteria

- Offering at least 3 different public presentations, exhibitions, productions, or programs annually
- Demonstrated history and current practice of showing the works of multiple creative artists
- Having other sources of public revenues and total revenues exceeding $2 million in each of the last 3 years (exceptions may be considered)

What is the Artistic Institutions grant?
The Artistic Institutions component of the Engage and Sustain grant program supports major Canadian arts organizations dedicated to nurturing artists and various art practices while engaging with their communities. Eligible entities must presently receive core (operating) support from this component and demonstrate a commitment to offering public presentations, exhibitions, or programs that promote the works of multiple creative artists.
Activities that can be funded include developing and promoting artistic programming, building public outreach initiatives, and supporting artistic practice, other art forms, and the Canadian arts sector. However, activities already receiving funding from another Canada Council program or those listed as ineligible are not eligible for this grant.

Interested organizations should create an account on the portal and submit one or more profiles for validation at least 30 days before the application deadline. The grant deadline for the Artistic Institutions component is 15th January 2025, with funding amounts of up to 25% of an organization's total annual revenues, averaged over the last three years.
