The Music Industry Initiatives program offers up to $60,000 to support projects that expand the capacity of British Columbia's music industry. Eligible activities include industry conferences, training opportunities, digital platform development, and projects beneficial to systemically excluded groups.
grant_single_labels|terms_and_conditions
- Grant amounts range from $2,000 to $60,000, funding up to 75% of project expenses.
- The remaining 25% of project expenses may be covered through in-kind contributions, investment, earned revenue, and/or other public funding.
- Projects serving systemically excluded groups may request up to 100% funding if other revenue sources are unavailable.
- Research projects may also request a higher percentage of funding if other revenue sources are unavailable.
- Eligible expenses include all costs required to deliver the project, such as salaries and wages.
- Capital purchases or operating costs not directly related to the project, including utilities and corporate overhead, are ineligible.
- Successful applicants receive a 75% advance payment upon signing the funding agreement.
- The remaining funds are disbursed after completion and review of the final report.

- Resources, policies, or manuals to share best practices in business, harm reduction, sustainability, equity, etc.
- Collaborative business initiatives, showcases, trade missions, or export activities.
- Research projects that develop knowledge to benefit those working in the music industry.
grant_single_labels|admissibility
- The applicant must be active in the music industry in B.C. and headquartered in Canada, or located in and eligible to work in Canada.
- Eligible applicants include individuals, collectives, companies, or organizations.
- Newly registered start-up companies are eligible.
- Informal collectives can apply, but one individual must take legal responsibility for the project.
- Collaborations with other businesses are welcome, requiring one primary applicant to take legal responsibility.
- Applicant companies must be in good standing with Creative BC.
- Municipalities and other levels of government are not eligible.
- Research companies, consultants, or academic institutions must demonstrate significant industry involvement and support.
- The program encourages applications from systemically excluded groups, such as Indigenous Peoples, Black, People of Colour, people with disabilities, and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

- Companies or organizations headquartered in Canada that are eligible to work in Canada and are active in B.C.'s music industry.
- Newly registered music companies (start-ups) in B.C.
- Research companies, consultants, or academic institutions with significant involvement from industry partnerships.

- GST is eligible if the applicant does not have a GST account.

- Recipients are responsible for issuing all payments related to the project and maintaining records of invoices and proofs of payment.
- The Justice, Equity, Decolonization, Diversity, and Inclusion principles are integral to the program, and applicants should ensure compliance with these standards.
- Creative BC encourages projects that incorporate environmentally sustainable practices to minimize ecological impacts.
- Feedback is available for applicants upon request after the application evaluation process is completed.
- Applicants with disabilities or needing accessibility assistance are encouraged to reach out for support in preparing their application, allowing an additional two weeks as needed.
- Creative BC expects adherence to the Canadian Creative Industries Code of Conduct, which addresses harassment, discrimination, and violence.
