The Career Development program, under Amplify BC, offers funding up to $30,000 to support the economic growth and career development of B.C.-based emerging and established artists. Eligible activities include sound recording, music videos, and marketing initiatives.

- The Career Development program offers grants covering up to 75% of eligible expenses, with funding amounts ranging from $1,000 to $30,000 per project.
- A minimum of 50% of each project budget must consist of B.C.-based expenses.
- Successful applicants will receive a 75% advance payment upon signing the funding agreement, with the remaining funds disbursed after project completion and review of the final report.
- Total public funding from combined sources cannot exceed 75% of the project budget, except for Indigenous artists, where it can equal up to 100% of the eligible budget.
- Projects must occur between April 1, 2024, and December 1, 2025, and applicants can only submit one application per deadline.
- Artists may pay themselves for work completed in-house up to $1,500 as emerging artists and up to $3,000 as established artists, provided they track and report hours worked.

- The applicant must be an emerging or established B.C.-based artist or a music company applying on behalf of such artists.
- Artists must have resided in B.C. for at least 200 of the 365 days before the deadline.
- If applying as a band, 50% or more of the permanent members must meet the B.C. residency requirement.
- Artists must demonstrate having experience in recording, releasing music, and/or performing.
- If applying as an individual, the artist must have a valid social insurance number.
- Music companies must be a legal entity, such as a sole proprietorship, registered partnership, incorporated company, or not-for-profit society, with necessary business registration documents.
- If the artist is a minor, the artist's legal guardian must be included in the application.
- Past Career Development final reports must be submitted if previously funded by Creative BC.
- Eligible applicants must have filed income tax returns in B.C., if legally required.
- The artist or company must not be in default with Creative BC.

The Career Development program is open to emerging and established artists residing in British Columbia. These artists must have demonstrable experience in recording and/or performing, earning income from their music activities, and promoting their work. Also eligible are music companies such as record labels, provided they are legal entities in B.C. Artists representing systemically excluded groups, such as Indigenous Peoples, Black, People of Colour, People with Disabilities, and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, are encouraged to apply. Artists applying can do so as individuals or through a music company.

- Managers of artists or music businesses.

- Expenses related to sound recording, marketing, and video production, such as studio rentals, gear rentals, producer fees, video expenses, publicists, and marketing assets.
- Catering or per diems for artists recording outside of their city or hometown requiring travel. Maximum per diem is $80 per day per person, and maximum eligible B.C. accommodation rate is $400 per room per night.
- Flights, gas, or other costs for production teams to travel to B.C. to record or film.
- Childcare expenses for studio days, video production days, or other activities directly related to the project.
- Short-term pre-production rehearsal studio or fees for hired players.
- Grant writing fees for artists with self-declared disabilities or English language barriers, up to $300 for successful applications.
- Self-payment for work completed in-house, up to $1,500 for emerging artists and up to $3,000 for established artists. This may include self-recording, graphic design, ad campaigns, administration, and other work related to the project.
- Gear purchases, software, or other equipment necessary to complete the project, up to 10% of the maximum grant in their artist category.

- Step 1: Prepare Your Application
- Prepare a project plan addressing all required questions.
- Compile a budget for your project, ensuring at least 50% B.C.-based expenses.
- Gather necessary business documentation, if applicable, such as a Business Statement of Registration or Certificate of Incorporation.
- Obtain letters or expressions of support from third parties, if possible.
- Prepare a video treatment if a traditional music video is part of your application.
- Collect vendor quotes or cost estimates for major budget items.

- Visit the Creative BC website to access the online application form.
- Fill out the online application form, ensuring all sections are completed accurately.
- Attach the project plan, budget, and any required documentation to your application.
- Submit your completed application form by the deadline of September 11, 2024, at 11:59 PM PT.
- Step 3: Confirm Submission
- Upon submission, each band member will receive a Self-ID form to complete.
- Ensure all Self-ID forms are returned by September 25, 2024.
