The Book Publishers Market Fund program has reopened for the 2026/27 fiscal year. The application window runs from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027, and applications are evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis until the budget is fully committed. A new application form submission endpoint has been added to the program page, providing applicants with updated instructions for submitting their funding requests. The budget template has also been updated to reflect the 2026/27 fiscal year requirements. Activities funded

Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • B.C. book publishers.
  • Active (voting and associate) members of Books BC.
  • Publishing companies that received funding from the Canada Book Fund, the BC Arts Council Operating Assistance Program for Book Publishers, or BC Arts Council Project Assistance for Book Publishers in the most recently completed fiscal year.

Eligible expenses

  • Per diem: $60 CAD per day in Canada and $80 CAD per day outside Canada.
  • Accommodation: up to $350 CAD per night.
  • Registration fees, booth costs, books/collateral shipping costs, return airfare based on economy fare, and ground transportation.
  • Design and printing of marketing materials, payable to third parties, capped at no more than 20% of the approved direct travel costs, plus overhead allowance capped at a maximum of 10% of the approved direct travel costs.
  • Marketing plan or campaign costs, including book/imprint launches, additional marketing tools and materials, enhanced advertising and co-op programs, specialized catalogues and mailings, advertising in international publications, newsletters and websites, backlist promotions, re-launch/re-brand activities, website redesign, author podcasts, videos, webcasts, digital rights management, search optimization, digitization of backlist, original content in digital format or bundled packaging, alternate sales channels, digital transformation strategy or business plan, and social media marketing or influencer partnerships.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Complimentary conference registration or travel from the market organizers, as those amounts are outside of the final reportable eligible costs.
  • Cash expenses for which a receipt cannot be provided.
