Overview
The Canada-Saskatchewan Job Grant provides employer-driven funding of up to $10,000 per trainee to support businesses and non-profit organizations in training new or existing employees for available jobs. Eligible activities include third-party training programs aimed at addressing skills gaps, supporting new hires, or advancing current employees.

Eligibility
- The applicant must be a business registered and operating in Saskatchewan, in good standing with the province and compliant with relevant legislation and regulations.
- Eligible applicant types include private, for-profit businesses, commercial cooperatives, non-profit corporations, banks, credit unions, private training institutions, farmers, labour organizations, and self-governing professional organizations.
- The company must have a position or job in Saskatchewan available for the trainee upon completion of training, and must intend to employ or continue employing the trainee after training.
- Employers must select a third-party, independent training provider to deliver the training, and the training must be relevant to the operational needs of the business.
- Public sector organizations such as government departments, municipalities, public health regions, educational institutions, and public libraries are not eligible.
Who is eligible?
This grant is driven by employers and is aimed at providing financial assistance to train new or existing employees for available jobs, creating more opportunities for unemployment and underemployment workers.
- Private and non-profit sector employers.
- Employers conducting operations within Saskatchewan.
- Businesses registered under the Business Corporations Act in Saskatchewan.
- Indigenous governments and Crown corporations for jobs in small or remote communities of 100,000 or fewer populations.
- Employers offering jobs at the end of the training within Saskatchewan.
Who is not eligible
- Publicly funded organizations, including health regions, post-secondary institutions, public libraries, municipalities, and school divisions.
- Departments, ministries, or agencies of the Governments of Canada or Saskatchewan.
- Employers not in good standing with provincial or government programs (e.g., outstanding contractual obligations or employment standards issues).
- Businesses that have not registered with Information Services Corporation (ISC), unless otherwise eligible.
- Self-employed individuals (as employers or as trainees).
Eligible expenses
- Tuition or instructional fees charged by the training provider.
- Mandatory student fees required by the training provider.
- Textbooks, software, and other required training materials necessary to complete the training.
- Learning material fees as stipulated by the training provider.
- Examination fees that are required to complete the training program.
- Provincial Sales Tax (PST) and Goods and Services Tax (GST) incurred on eligible training costs (excluding GST costs for Non-profit Corporations).

- Gather all required information and documentation, including the ISC Corporate Registry Number, Direct Deposit Payment Request Form, trainee details, training provider details, and completed Training Course Outline if applicable.

Complete Application Form
- Access the application form on the official website.
- Fill in all required fields, including business and contact information, proposed training activities, trainee information, and eligible training costs.
- Attach all required supporting documents to the application.
- Ensure to declare and consent as needed in the application.

Submit Application
- Email the completed application package, including any attachments, to cansaskjobgrant@gov.sk.ca.
- Once submitted, you should receive a confirmation email of receipt within three business days. If not, contact the ministry immediately for confirmation.

Application Assessment
- The ministry will assess the application for eligibility and completeness based on provided information.
- Be prepared for ministry staff to contact you for further information or clarification if required during the assessment process.

Contract Negotiation (Post-approval)
- If the application is approved, negotiate a contract with the Government of Saskatchewan before the start date of training.
- Comply with all contract requirements and prepare for final reporting to ensure reimbursement eligibility.
Additional information
- The program is currently closed for new applications until April 1, 2025, due to changes in federal funding allocations.
- Applications submitted prior to the closure are still under review, but those submitted less than 10 business days before the training start date may not be approved.
- Applicants must ensure all information, forms, and attachments are complete, as only fully completed applications will be assessed.
- Approval of grant funding does not constitute endorsement of a training provider or training program by the Government of Saskatchewan.
