Overview of the Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG) program
Ontario's workforce is our most valuable asset. As new technologies, globalization and shifting demographics rapidly change Ontario's economy, they alter the mix of available jobs and the skills people need to succeed in them. By building up education and training, we can maintain Ontario's competitive advantage, helping businesses and workers adapt to change and achieve their goals.
Financing terms and conditions
- Up to $10,000 in government funding per employee for eligible training costs.
- Employers with 100 or more employees must contribute 50% of training costs.
- Small employers with fewer than 100 employees must contribute 1/6 of training costs.
- Most intermediary organizations may receive administrative funding equal to 15% of the government contribution.

Eligibility criteria of the Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG) program
- The applicant must be an employer seeking to provide training for its workforce.
- The training must be delivered by an eligible, third-party trainer.
- Employers with fewer than 100 employees must contribute at least 1/6 of the training costs.
- Employers with 100 or more employees must contribute at least 1/2 of the training costs.
- Only applications for training of 25 or fewer participants are currently accepted.
Who is eligible?
Employers in Ontario, both small and large, looking to invest in training for their workforce, can apply for the Canada-Ontario Job Grant. Small employers with less than 100 employees and larger employers with 100 or more employees are eligible to receive up to $10,000 per person for training costs, provided the training is delivered by an eligible, third-party training provider. Additionally, organizations acting as intermediaries are eligible for administrative funding. Employers should have specific skills demands that need addressing through training.

How to apply to the Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG) program

Check program eligibility

- Ensure your organization and training needs align with the program requirements
- Verify the required employer contribution based on your organization size

Prepare application documents
- Identify the training needs of your workforce
- Select an eligible third-party training provider
- Gather required training provider and employer attestation forms

Complete attestation forms
- Complete the required attestation forms for both the training provider and employer
- Ensure all participant information is included (maximum 25 participants per application)
- Contact the Employment Ontario Contact Centre if assistance is needed

Submit application
- Submit your application and all supporting documents through the designated process
- Ensure all forms are properly signed and attached

Await application results
- Wait for confirmation from the program regarding your application status
- Monitor communications for possible requests for missing information or follow-ups
Additional information
- Applications are currently limited to training for 25 or fewer participants per submission.
- Employers interested in training for more than 25 participants are encouraged to consider the Skills Development Fund (SDF).
- Key program documents, such as forms and information sheets, are periodically updated and should be accessed from the official source.
- Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
