  • Applications for land claims or litigation research

Eligible expenses

  • Salaries and mandatory employer-related costs
  • Professional fees for project management or technical expertise
  • Travel for project-related activities
  • Honoraria for Elders and cultural ceremonies or offerings
  • Meeting, workshop, equipment, and administration costs

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Projects outside the stream objectives or not related to mineral exploration and development
  • Initiatives already fully funded by other sources, including in-kind contributions

How to apply

Register with Transfer Payment Ontario

  • Complete all sections of the application form in TPON, including organization, project information, and contact details
  • Prepare detailed responses to all project-related questions, ensuring alignment with stream objectives
  • Attach supporting documents such as work plans and budget templates for each year of funding requested

Review and validate application

  • Review answers provided to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Confirm all required fields and mandatory attachments are included
  • Consult with the Transfer Payment Coordinator or ministry contacts for review if necessary

Submit application through TPON

  • Submit the completed application form and all required documents through the TPON portal
  • Keep the confirmation email received upon submission for your records
  • Ensure submission is completed before the fiscal year end or before the stream closes

Wait for results from ministry

  • Await notification from the ministry regarding the outcome of your application
  • Be prepared to provide additional information or clarification if requested during assessment

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed by internal ministry reviewers.
  • The ministry also completes a risk assessment and financial appraisal.
  • Funding decisions are made at the ministry’s discretion.
  • Successful applicants must sign a Transfer Payment Contribution Agreement before funds are released.
  • Recipients must report using ministry forms and may be subject to audit or verification.
