The Water Security Agency is a unique-in-Canada provincial Crown corporation that consolidates Saskatchewan's core water management responsibilities into a single organization. Established in 2012, the agency oversees the province’s water supply, ensures the safety of drinking water and wastewater treatment, and operates over 70 dams and related conveyance infrastructure. Guided by a vision to be the best water management agency in North America, the WSA plays a pivotal role in Saskatchewan’s Growth Plan for 2020-2030 by expanding irrigation capacity and supporting agricultural and industrial development. Beyond infrastructure, the agency is a lead regulator for agricultural water management and aquatic habitat protection, while also representing the province in transboundary water negotiations. Through its commitment to service excellence and science-based policy, the WSA strives to provide safe, reliable water that enhances the quality of life for all Saskatchewan residents.
