The Town of Penetanguishene is the municipal government for Penetanguishene, Ontario. It provides local leadership, planning, infrastructure, and community services while working to strengthen economic development, housing supply, and quality of life across the town.
As part of its role in local development, the Town administers two Community Improvement Plans: the Downtown CIP adopted in 2020 and the Affordable and Sustainable Housing CIP adopted in 2024. Together, these plans provide fourteen financial incentive programs to support improvement projects. The Downtown CIP includes programs for building improvement and renovation, affordable housing, landscaping and property improvement, tax increment support, planning and building fee rebates, façade improvements, and signage improvements. The Affordable and Sustainable Housing CIP includes programs such as the Additional Dwelling Unit Program, Tax Increment Equivalent Grant, Planning and Building Permit Fee Program, Renovations for Affordable Rental Housing Program, Home Energy Program, Affordable Housing Feasibility Study Program, and Surplus Land Program.
