Role in the Funding Ecosystem
The Rotary Club of Midland operates as a community service organization that distributes funds raised through club activities to support local charitable initiatives. Unlike formal foundations, the club functions as a service organization where members volunteer their time and resources to benefit the local community.
Funding Request Process
Requests under $2,500 can be approved at the Committee level. Requests over $2,500 require Board approval and are presented to the Club for final approval. For requests of $5,000 or more, applicants are asked to present at a Fireside Meeting. The Community Service Committee contacts selected applicants to ensure their presentation contains the information the Club is looking for.
Review Cycle and Deadlines
Funding requests are reviewed twice annually - in the Spring and Fall. The deadline for Fall review is October 1st, and for Spring review is April 1st. Decisions on applications are made approximately 4-6 weeks following these deadlines. Time-sensitive requests may be reviewed independently throughout the year and are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
