Andrew Dunn Foundation Inc. is a grassroots charitable foundation based in Oakbank, Manitoba. Established in memory of Andrew Dunn, it focuses on mental health issues and suicide awareness. The foundation raises funds primarily through community events such as the Andrew Dunn Walk/Run and through donations and sponsorships from individuals and corporations. These funds are then redistributed to support mental health education, awareness activities and student awards.

The foundation directs its financial support to several key areas. It funds mental health educational and awareness events, often in partnership with other agencies working to reduce the stigma around mental illness and suicide. A significant part of its giving is dedicated to annual awards, scholarships and bursaries for graduating students from high schools in the Sunrise School Division and the Whiteshell School District. Academic achievement is valued, with particular consideration for students planning further studies in fields related to mental health.

Beyond scholarships, the organization supports various community initiatives that align with its mission of improving public understanding of mental illness and highlighting available resources and effective treatments. The foundation reports having raised more than $650,000 since inception, and continues to invest these funds back into local communities.

AndrewDunn.org accepts funding requests annually from September to May. Prospective beneficiaries are asked to review the foundation’s sponsorship policy and may apply using a mail-in or online application form. Submitted requests are reviewed by the foundation, which then communicates its decision to applicants. The organization also publishes information on its community investments, allowing donors and partners to see how contributions are used to support projects and scholarships.

The initiative began in 2007, when family and friends organized the first Andrew Dunn Walk/Run to raise funds and awareness after Andrew Dunn’s death in 2006. Over time, the event grew to hundreds of participants and generated substantial donations. In June 2020, the group formally incorporated as Andrew Dunn Foundation Inc. and later obtained registered charity status from the Canada Revenue Agency, enabling it to issue official tax receipts for donations. The volunteer leadership team includes a co-founder, president and treasurer, who oversee fundraising activities, grantmaking and overall stewardship of donated funds.
