The Association de la construction du Québec (ACQ), founded in 1948, has over 75 years of experience as a cornerstone of Quebec’s construction industry. It is the province’s largest multi-sector employers’ group, uniting more than 20,000 contractors across the institutional, commercial, industrial, and residential sectors. Its members account for a significant share of the industry’s activity, demonstrating the ACQ’s broad reach and influence. Through a network of ten regional chapters in 17 cities, the ACQ provides a comprehensive suite of tools and services tailored to the needs of contractors.
The ACQ’s mission is to foster the growth and success of construction businesses in Quebec by developing innovative management tools and offering a range of support services. These include training programs, regulatory and technical information, business networking, and occupational health and safety assistance. The ACQ also serves as the official voice of employers in various construction sectors during collective bargaining negotiations.
As a mandated agent for financial support programs aimed at skills development, the ACQ plays a key role in promoting and coordinating continuing education in the construction field. It works closely with public institutions and industry stakeholders to implement initiatives that support workforce upskilling. Its advisors help companies develop training plans and access dedicated funding for skills development.
The ACQ strongly promotes ongoing training for construction employees throughout their careers. In a rapidly evolving sector, workers must update their skills to stay efficient and competitive. The Association continually develops new courses aligned with technological progress and industry best practices, ensuring workers are well-prepared for current and future challenges.
To meet these needs, the ACQ offers an extensive continuing education program across the province. With over 500 practice-oriented courses available, the offerings cover topics such as construction techniques, project management, site supervision, health and safety, and more. Training is delivered either on-site at companies or in specialized centers, depending on the employer’s needs. These courses are free of charge for employees, and financial incentives are also provided to encourage participation. Thanks to this dynamic approach, thousands of workers each year benefit from relevant, high-quality training that supports both personal advancement and the long-term growth of the industry.
