The Ministry of Sport is the Government of Ontario’s central public funder for several sport-related initiatives. Its portfolio includes support for recognized provincial sport organizations and multi-sport organizations, direct assistance to Ontario athletes, and project-based funding for hosting amateur sport events in the province.
The ministry’s funding activity focuses on amateur sport, athlete development, and sport-system capacity.
