Nova Scotia s Office of Equity and Anti-Racism works across government with communities and partners to lead anti-racism initiatives, promote equity and address systemic racism and inequity in policy, legislation, programs and services. Through funding such as the Community Network Grant, the office supports community-driven projects that respond to systemic hate, inequity and racism, including work with underrepresented and underserved groups such as Mi kmaq and Indigenous people, African Nova Scotians, people of African descent, people with disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, newcomers, minority faith communities and neurodivergent people. In the funding ecosystem, this office gives community organizations a dedicated public funding route for equity work that is often under-resourced. Grants can support education, leadership, belonging, cultural repair, anti-hate capacity and local inclusion infrastructure. This helps shift anti-racism from policy statements into funded projects led by affected communities.
