Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Registered non-profit organizations.
  • Registered charities.
  • Community-based organizations in Nova Scotia.

Who is not eligible

  • Municipalities, schools, post-secondary institutions, and hospitals.
  • Public bodies and other levels of government.
  • Projects that have already received a Community Network Grant in previous years.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Fundraising events or revenue-generating activities.
  • Operating expenses such as existing staff salaries, heat, and rent.
  • Major building development or major equipment purchases.
  • Projects mainly focused on employment.
  • Costs incurred before the application deadline.
  • Cultural events not clearly linked to the program objectives.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed by OEA and a committee of representatives from other government departments.
  • Applications are assessed against the eligibility requirements and selection criteria.
  • If funded, the organization must submit a final report, including financial reporting, within 30 days of the project end date.
  • Funded organizations must register and contribute to OEA's Community Network Site.
  • Funding recipients are subject to provincial audit and record-retention requirements.
