As part of its role in local development, Wawa administers a Downtown Community Improvement Plan financial incentives program focused on revitalizing the downtown core along Broadway Avenue. The program includes five grant streams: the Residential/Office Rehabilitation and Conversion Grant, Activation Grant for Vacant Buildings, Building Façade and Signage Improvement Grant, Planning and Building Permit Fee Grant, and Tax Increment Equivalent Grant. These incentives are designed to stimulate private investment, improve the appearance and function of downtown properties, support housing and business activity, and encourage placemaking and tourism.
